  • Once you fill out the application and hit submit, the humane education department will be notified and will review your application. If you are having problems submitting your application, please email humaneeducation@spcaLA.com or call (323) 730-5300 ext 320.
  • The deadline for C.I.T applications is April 30th. Any additional information that you mailed in must be postmarked no later than April 30th.
  • Applications will be reviewed after the deadline and prospective C.I.Ts will be contacted via email about their acceptance as a C.I.T.

What it means to be a C.I.T

  • As a C.I.T, you will be working with the younger age children, ages 8-10.
  • You will work closely with the camp counselors to help with daily activities, crafts, dog training time and cat time.
  • Being a C.I.T means being responsible and motivated. You will be a leader and representative of the spcaLA and will be expected to act as a role model for the younger campers.
  • Being a C.I.T will be fun but also challenging. Be sure you are up for the task!
  • A C.I.T may need to have certain skills (although not required) in order to be successful.  Please keep in mind that a C.I.T may be working closely with dogs and cats, may be leading a group activity and therefore speaking in front of a class, helping to pass out materials and be on their feet most of the day.
  • C.I.T’s are required to come for one week of camp. You will be allowed to attend only one week of camp as a C.I.T, unless there are less than 16 participants. If you are interested in attending more than one week, please note that on your application.

We are looking for motivated, fun, energetic and compassionate
animal lovers to be C.I.T’s.  Are you that person?

For Parents

  • If your child is interested in becoming a C.I.T, please DO NOT register them as a normal camper.  The young adult interested in becoming a C.I.T must complete the application; the link is at the bottom of this page.
  • If accepted into the C.I.T program, payment for the camp, which is $250.00, can be made by phone or mail-in.
  • Camp hours will be the same for the C.I.T participants and the same camp rules apply.  Once accepted into the C.I.T program, you must fill out the liability waiver that will be sent to you.  If the liability wavier is not returned to us by June 1st, then your child will lose the position as a C.I.T.
  • If you have any questions regarding the C.I.T program, please call (323) 730-5300 ext 320 or email humaneeducation@spcaLA.com.
